Invisible characters can be created by the class using One Word Images or by individuals. Here are some individually created characters from one of my 6th grade classes in New Delhi last year. The kids used iPad Notability, which gives better graphics and hence more interest. I like OWI to create Invisibles by the entire class, but I prefer the individually created characters like these. They seem to elicit more love from the class:
The two “studios” mentioned are actually companies that the then-sixth graders started up to sell their Invisibles as figurines, drawings, letterhead images, etc on the internet. So much ownership in these characters! Aqua Teddy Studio was started by a girl from England and Mint Green Tea is based in Pretoria, South Africa, although its owner is still in school in New Delhi. So what if the kids are now in 7th grade? They are dreaming and they believe in and love their product line….
