Artist Breakthrough

Laura Avila in Maine has shared a breakthrough idea on the problem with the artist. As we know, they get so caught up in drawing that they fail to hear much of the language. Here is Laura’s solution and one that I will immediately adapt in my own classroom:

Hi Ben,

Here is a power point to share with the group. It is a story based on a Matava script.

I have started to use the class artist differently than I did last year. Because the artist gets so wrapped up in doing the drawings well, they miss out on the class story.

So, I write out a line or two for each slide I want (on the ipad). The artist draws what I want on each slide OUTSIDE of class. Then I take the screen shots and put in the text.

This year I am lucky to have a great artist (from Poland).

Anyone can change the attached power point to their needs or language. If someone uses it please give my artist credit: Ewelina Oles.
