Message to John Bracey

Actually this message is also to Angie Dodd and John Piazza and certainly to myself as a younger TPRS teacher many years ago. It is to anyone who has been hurt, cut or jabbed in their buildings by people who teach classes that by accident have (this will soon change) the same name as the classes we teach. Here’s the message:
It’s over. The struggle is over. All we needed was to rename our classes to make the name reflect what we actually teach. Now we can do that. Story Spanish. I don’t know what the name will be, but it won’t be Verb Chart Spanish. Remove the weight from your shoulders. You can do it now. We have our response.
This breakthrough in naming our classes will not only free our shoulders from a too-heavy weight but will also free our broken hearts from those who have been holding our necks down on the floor, saying things that are not true to us. My heart is filled with love for you three and for all the others who have been made to dance to someone else’s music these past hard years.
It’s over. We’re free. We are no longer bound. People can abuse us only to the extent that we allow the abuse. And if someone doesn’t get the new message, why, then we’ll have to tell them.
Example: “Oh I understand what you are saying to me now! You think I teach what you do! I am so sorry for the communication lapse. Actually, I don’t teach what you do! I teach for communication in the language.
As Matthew said:
…we aren’t preparing them for high school but to read, write and speak well…
Who would have thought that it was all about the course names!
