From John Piazza:
On Latin Best Practices today, John Bracey shared some real insight about the traditional way of teaching grammar. It certainly resonates with my experience, as both teacher and learner of Latin:
“I think that it is hard for traditional teachers to recognize that their students, even their superstars, are not actually retaining the grammar concepts. Â They don’t recognize that their students are re-memorizing all of those charts over and over again before assessments. Â Their superstar students will trick them into thinking that long term retention is possible, but this is just an illusion. For every assessment they are practically starting over from scratch. ”
