I am feeling torn between staying true to the research and evidence behind CI, and introducing more vocab. than students will retain. Example: I would like to share a television series with my level 4 students, for the sake of variety, and to introduce them to watching German on t.v. However, there is a lot of new vocabulary in the different series that I have in mind. My goal is not for them to understand every word, but for a more global comprehension. It would also give us another springboard besides novels. I would define some new words before each episode and PQA them a bit. It would be more wide and shallow than narrow and deep, however. Thoughts? Experience? Suggestions?
