Ruth adds:
I teach at the middle school across the parking lot. We all meet when we can as a department. The high school has Spanish, French, and German. I think there is a mix of styles and methods among the different teachers. Definitely some old ways, but everyone in the department is friendly and open to new ideas and there is more talk about CI now than there was last year when I started. This year I feel a little less like a loner who speaks yet a different language. I am hoping to get some of them to join me in Maine in October. You would certainly be welcomed, and I’m pretty sure you would feel free to teach how you want and probably have some influence. And of course, I would love to have a TCI colleague who understands the things we talk about here on the blog and that we are trying to do in our classrooms.
