Arizona Update

I asked Michael for an update on the Arizona situation and he kindly replied:
Hi Ben,
Here is a link to the document. If you click the PDF the new version will come up. The final version is just okay. They seem to “scrub” it to make sure certain words and phrases don’t stick out. I think it is heavy on ACTFL stuff but I understand why.
Hopefully there is an idea or spirit that various languages are included and that one “method” is not superior to others. Although a little disappointing, in the end this was a good experience for me. It helped me to understand the FL teachers that are attempting to control language teaching in AZ. It also was a good lesson in making a difference through “diplomacy.”

Check out some of the names at the bottom of Thomas Sauer’s website. My ACTFL lobbyist name is right below HC. The website in general is a whole lot of words that don’t really say anything. It looks like we are always battling these types.
