This summer I’m going to be putting together and adapting a lot of readings using embedded reading strategies (ER). One big question is over whether to use ER’s to bring all students up to a high level reading, or rather to take a mixed level approach, with students reading at their own N+1 level–but this would require either that the class be assessed on a lower-than-highest level reading, or else call for differentiated assessments corresponding to the various levels.
I would love to see an extended conversation on the PLC this summer about differentiated assessments for embedded readings.
