Does anyone know of any sources that explain acquiring language in simple terms for 9-12 graders?
Each semester all classes in our school are required to have our students engage in a school wide writing process, and write an essay in English, which takes several days in class. Last semester I chose the theme of the Berlin Wall. This semester I was hoping to find an article/reading that can explain to students in simple terms how language is acquired, or something along those lines.
I also thought about an article exploring the benefits of learning a language? Or, how languages are organically created. I want a topic that will get them thinking and motivate them in our CI work.
Please direct me to anything you think of. If not, I’m going to rewrite something already out there myself.
