Long Term Sub Question

Suzanne asks:

Ok, so in good news, CI has been kicking butt in French 1, French 2 – depends on the day and the level of alertness of the class, but anyhow….I’ve set myself up beautifully for next year. Here’s the wrench in the works – but it’s a good one: I’m going to be adding to my family and the baby is due in October, and then I’ll be taking the rest of the year off. It figures just when I get the ball rolling, something happens, but it’s a good thing. I know I have to just let go and realize that the sub isn’t me, and isn’t going to do things the way I do. Do I just suck it up and see what happens after the year? The sub is probably going to be one of my former students from years past who actually has a clue about French and a degree, but she’s just started working on her credential, and doesn’t have any training at all in CI. I know it’s not my responsibility to train her, and quite honestly, I do need the year off to care for my family. I have a three year old as well, so I’m not going to plan for the year for someone else, it’s just not possible.

Suggestions from the group?

Thanks,

Suzanne
