The contentious issue of forced speech output is likely to come up for some of us in our buildings in the next months. Accordingly, I have added three new primers on this subject to the Primer hard link on this page. All are taken from the recent thread initiated by Kate here about a year ago on speech output. Originally just comments on the thread, the three primers are from Angie, Nathaniel and Robert. Each is excellent.
So I suggest that, instead of engaging the tar baby when this topic next comes up with a colleague or administrator, and it will, just take a deep breath, remember that we have these three excellent texts from our PLC members, go grab one and send it to the person who thinks that early speech output in kids is a good thing. Then demand a response defending their position. You won’t get one, because they have no position.
