So, yesterday, Bob Patrick taught the first class ever at the University of Georgia on comprehensible input. The course is called “CI and Second Language Acquisition” and Bob’s syllabus was presented in a previous post here last week:
Robert Patrick Syllabus LLED 7045
Bob reported before class yesterday:
Three weeks ago, there was one student registered. Looked like the class would not make. A week later, there were 12! Class was confirmed to make. Excellent size class for graduate work and this kind of discussion. By this weekend, at close of registration, the class had reached capacity–25! I have since approved 3 more to be allowed to enter the class, making for 28. I am pumped.
So Bob please report in as things get cranked up. I am almost certain that this is the first class of its kind in an American university in the sense that this will be a complete look at CI and not one that mixes it in with other methods, blurring students’ visions.
