Here is the latest from Bob, very positive news:

Hey Ben, quick note before I head to school.  World Lang and Lit Ed chair contacted me yesterday–asking me to teach for them next year–adjunct course.  Willing to let me create a hybrid where I am only there once a week, online, combo, whatever, and to let me create a new course for them in TPRS methods.  I have suggested CI Methods, but regardless of whether we call it a pink or light red elephant, I am excited.  It makes me wonder if any other Univ. has offered a lang methods course in CI per se.

I responded that I was interested and asked how we get started.  She immediately contacted her admins to start the paper work for a new course.  Damn.

I responded to Bob:

…it makes me wonder if any other Univ. has offered a lang methods course in CI per se….

All I know is something happening at U. of Alaska about a Master’s program. But not a CI course per se so this could be the first. It certainly isn’t happening in Colorado, that is for sure.

Of course they will take advantage of you financially but we both know that is not the deal here. This is like we have been ants walking around a very large building – the American university system – yelling “Krashen works – explore CI more!” at them and they couldn’t hear us bc we were ants and now one ant got in and had tea with them and they enjoyed the visit and now want more of what that ant offered.

This is perhaps one reason you got the PhD, if you ever wondered. The usefulness of the doctorate’s time has arrived. This really is big. Because now, in a natural way over time as the years go by, the day you are giving classes at UGA will be the most exciting day of the week for the other faculty, although nobody will be admitting it.
