The Round World Group

Jody La Maréchale des Forces de l’Ouest said in an email:

I think we should name ourselves “The Round World Group”. I can no longer see my work through the “flat world lens” no matter how many people believe it’s flat. There is no going back for me. Hard to explain to people who think I should take any job, in any place, and use any textbook to teach language. No way.

And Judy La Reine de France replied [ital./emphasis mine]:

I like that name, the Round World Group. It seems so obvious today that the world is round, that it’s hard to believe that the vast majority once thought otherwise and laughed at Columbus. One day it will be just as obvious to everyone that languages are acquired without any cognitive effort, that comprehensible input is the only way to teach languages. I would even say that all other methods seem to work only because accidentally or coincidentally students are getting some comprehensible input. If they weren’t, none of them would ever learn to speak the language.
