Our work includes something we rarely think about. By offering a better, more interesting product and by aligning with standards in a way that people who use L1 to teach L2 never can, we are debunking a myth that has been accepted as a truth for a very long time.
That is huge work. In our daily efforts to learn to teach with CI, and we are pioneers and it is going to be clumsy in the early going that is the time we are in right now, with all it’s (especially emotional!) challenges, we should not forget how hard this work is.
We are doing more than we think, y’all. And how do we know that? Because the opposition in the invisible world, in class, out of class, everywhere, is just so strong, almost like a hurricane.
We are being made to feel clumsy and stupid almost every day, at least I am, on more occasions than I feel capable at this work. I doubt if anyone of us doesn’t feel that way.
So that’s how we know that this is big work. Because of the opposition.
