Reflecting on my lame joke above about how busy we are, I should add that, in fact, if we really are too busy right now in May, then it may mean that we are assessing in the old way too much.
The smooth and powerful and effortless way in which we teach must be reflected in an equally smooth and powerful and effortless way of assessing (read “authentic”). I keep remembering what Claire said about how curriculum and instruction and assessment must all mirror each other if the program of instruction is to be effective.
I look forward to picking the recent assessment thread up again in July. (Claire and Tina and I are leading the discussion on Thursday afternoon of that week at iFLT for those interested.)
