January is full blown story time in the TPRS/CI community for many of us. We spent the fall getting to know the kids, norming the class, using the Anne Matava questionnaire, doing CWB and OWI and all that other “getting to know you” type of CI, having tiptoed into stories in November or thereabouts (and many of us are also well into our first novel with our level one classes), and we are also looking forward to a nice time of R and D in a few months when the kids burn out on stories.
This is just a post for new people who are doing stories but want a little guidance when doing Step 3 of TPRS – Reading. In the way I do it, there is a difference between teaching reading that has grown from a story created in class and reading done in a novel – there are different ways to do both and the following link provides information about the former:
