Three Job Openings

Latin in St. Louis from John Becker

Hi Ben,

Could you pass on to the group that a HS Latin 1-AP position is open at Lafayette HS in St. Louis county?

The easiest way to find the posting is to go to www.rsdmo.org, and click on the “Employment” tab. Then follow the link for Teachers.

There is only the one Latin teacher in the building, and the district is not anti-CI, though I’m careful to say that I use TPRS as a part of my overall approach to avoid too much argument.

Spanish in New Mexico from Nathan Chismar

Thank you Ben for what you have given the Language Acquisition community.

My name is Nathan Chismar and I teach at Moreno Valley High School in Angel Fire, New Mexico. I am trying to reach out to all the TPRS organizations to inform about a job opening next school year. TPRS Spanish 1-4, teacher needed!!! Please please if you have any way to send this information out to other TPRS organizations or teachers, this would help our great school out tremendously. Our school is a small public charter in a mountainous region in New Mexico. We are a Paideia based school and practice project based learning/ seminaring. We have a 4 day a week block schedule that rotates each day. We have a new school being built this year, and will be teaching in next year. Great faculty, great students. We are currently ranked #1 in our state, and have been ranked nationally for years. Please if you know anyone interested in a great TPRS Spanish teaching position, send our director an email at gregvincent@mvhsnm.org. or call our school at 575-377- 3100.

Spanish in Charlotte, NC from Dave Talone

Job opening! I just found out that the school I am joining in the fall is now looking for another Spanish teacher. I was just brought on board a few weeks ago to round out an all TPRS middle school program. The head of the middle school is all-aboard the TPRS/CI train, and they have already been using the approach for the past two years. The position would be for MS Spanish, probably 7-8th grades, but possibly 5-6. It is at a smallish private school in the Charlotte area that is only k-8 (so no AP worries!) There is no textbook, just TPRS novels, and a flexible proficiency based curriculum (and the administration has been helpful in sending teachers to summer conferences over the past few years.) Plus, we would get to work together to create an awesome program! Charlotte is a great town to live in, it is affordable for teachers while still having big city amenities, and pretty good weather. If you are interested or want more info, please PM me or email me at datalone at gmail, as soon as possible.
