I have followed your work for the last 5 years or more. The strategies of CI work! I am looking forward to refreshing the details as I feel like I need it. Using ONLY CI for the last four years, I have a story to tell. Just by using invisibles and any CI strategies that I could find, I now have a group of seniors graduating and eleventh graders following closely behind. Two of my students just took the Spanish Language & Culture AP exam. They went into it with ease because we barely even talked about it all year! We did no targeted prep. We just did what we do. We read books, watched movies, talked and shared life. I had four students pass the Seal of Biliteracy proficiency exams. Three achieved functional biliteracy – one is ONLY finishing Spanish 3! One achieved the slightly higher Ohio State Seal of Biliteracy, again, a third year student. I do not believe that it is ANYTHING that I do. There are many, many much better teachers. To me, it is that CI works. Period. I give lots of credit to you because many years ago, you GAVE me The Big Book of CI and that became my guide. In the last two years, I have felt overwhelmed and began to allow myself to be lightly pulled away, thinking I just was not doing ‘enough’. But the results of my kids, in spite of my failures, are taking me back. I am really looking forward to this workshop!!!!
