This is a great idea! I love the nature of non-targeted CI because it takes no prep and feels fun if I can stay in the moment. What is great about this is that you could easily scaffold this for different levels. You could easily ask lower levels, “It’s late at night, there’s a strange man in your room, what do you do? This if very concrete. Now kick it up with, What if it were late at night and a strange man were in your room, what would you do? You get some work on the more complex conditionals.
I also like the options of using general or specific times and also changing up the places especially if you want to target something. If you have the word tree, you can say something like, It’s bedtime and you look out your window and see a bear in the tree, what do you do?
Cool idea!
Love this! Great thing to do in between stories. Definitely want to do this after the lovely midterm exam is over. I don’t think my level 1s could ever handle it, but definitely 3s and I’ll try it with 2.
I think I might combine this to start the new school year with the mad lib idea someone posted after NTPRS.
I would ask everyone to agree on a place, a date, a person, and then ask for an actor. After all that, we can do a brain break, and then we’ll launch into the story.
If the kids like it, we can keep trying it with different actors or heroes.
(Welcome to New Delhi, Ben! I’m so excited for you!)
