Could you do a group email explaining your educational purposes for taping to the parents and ask for regrets responses only? Do they sign any releases at the beginning of the year? In my school there’s a “Do Not Photograph” list but even that has leeway if names aren’t used…Personally I really, really like seeing the kids faces in our demo videos, but I understand why we sometimes can’t use ’em…
I gotta get on this. I’ll ask around today before our spring break about getting a video camera. There’s tons of resources here I am not tapping into. Also, since my school is a high profile school in my district MOST if not ALL students’ parents signed a release in the beginning of the year.
Do it Steve!!!! I wanna “visit” your classroom!!!
Also, please consider discussing this with an administrator before sending out a release form. Not every district/building allows videotaping EVEN IF the students are not in the view of the camera. It’s driving me crazy that my own will not allow it. Right now I’m trying to get permission to tape after school hours or on a Saturday with volunteer students and parent releases. Ay……
with love,
Laurie
