    1. I won’t compare the two and am going to both, but there are two big reasons I can name off the top of my head:

      1. People who don’t go to NTPRS like Jason Fritze and Diana Noonan and others will be there.
      2. A lot of the instruction will be with real kids with extremely supportive parents who have fallen in love with the work of Leslie Davison. This is a big deal. Only once have I personally demonstrated the approach with real students (Matava’s Hogs in Maine) and it makes a difference.

  1. Hey Ben! I’m so glad you posted this! I couldn’t see how I could attend with my 2 little ones, but I’m going to try to talk my mom into spending some time in Breckenridge and watching the munchkins. Sounds fun!

I know that Karen Rowan was involved in iFLT before, but I didn’t see her name listed in the info. Is she still?

  2. I am very excited to hear about this conference. My community college has given me the funding (although less that what I hoped for) to attend NTPRS. I started early because I knew that funding was going to be tough and that if I started early I was more likely to get the money. Having said all of that I definitely would prefer to go to this conference in Breckenridge. I am going to talk with the appropriate people at the community college to get it changed for the iFLT conference. I know that some are hesitant to compare NTPRS with iFLT. I am not. I went to the Fluency Fast conference in Denver in 2009 and I was very pleased. I also must be honest and say that I very much enjoyed NTPRS last year in St. Louis. The new conference format was good and there was ton of good people. I am a huge fan of Jason Fritze and appreciate the little that I have spoken with Diane Noonan. The lineup of presenters is excellent. I recruited an ESL teacher to NTPRS for this year in Las Vegas. I told her however that a major weakness is that NTPRS is very much lacking in being relevant to ESL teachers. I am going to contact her to try and get her to sign up for the iFLT conference. I am very excited to see that Beth Skelton is going to be there. I have exchanged emails with her via the Yahoo group site a number of times the past few years regarding ESL and have used her book to help me with ESL. When I have talked with Blaine Ray about ESL I quickly became aware that he is not very interested nor very knowledgeable about what takes place in ESL classes. I know that these conferences are not easy to plan for. I hope I can work it out and undo all the plans I have made.

  3. It seems as if all of the big name TPRS people in the country are from or based in Colorado. Is there some magical phenomena or something in the water in Colorado to make it so awesome?

  4. Yes, I kicked her off about 10 months ago. She made a few comments that I considered offensive and controlling, and I felt threatened and insecure, and so in order to not feel that way on my own blog, I deleted her membership. She’s the best, but it didn’t work out in this particular venue.
