The extensions on the “Invisibles Star Sequence” below (points 5 and 6) are dictee and WCTG but any extension activities, of course, are good. It is the changing of learning modalities/activation of different parts of the brain through the sequence that we want. It is the reading that counts the most. Once the students have heard it (auditory input), then they read it (visual input). That is a two layer cake, and then we can add any extension activities and it’s a three layer cake. What is the most important layer? The second/reading layer, by far. I have often thought how reading is the goal of our instruction, or should be.
