Q. Just a quick question. What’s the difference between the archivist and the curator? I thought that I had it clear but now that I’m coming closes to bringing in the jobs, I’m not sure.
A. The archivist is kind of a relay person each day, sending the Video Retell (Step #7 in the questioning levels) to the book publisher and documentary film maker for however they want to use it to get a book or film together by the end of the year. (The film can include, besides “best moments” from the stories, interviews with the teacher and the students.) The curator has a much more end-of-year based job. They are like the party planner who takes all the work of any of the kids who did the heavy lifting during the year (to actually produce a film or a book) and they organize the invitations, place, to parents and admins and other students to see the end of the year show. They bring the popcorn. I think that all classes should have some sort of meaningful end-of-year celebration, and so I would remind those two responsible for bringing real artifacts to the end of the year that their job is pretty important.
