I think I came up with a new activity I do with the OWI stories and the Invisibles, but maybe someone else is doing this.
I am not a native speaker of Spanish. Once I have them typed up I ask a native speaker of Spanish to read the stories slowly and I record them. (My girlfriend is a native speaker and even though she’s not a teacher, I have her drinking the TPRS Kool Aid) 🙂
I then use these recordings for listening activities as a follow up for the stories (usually it’s a week later because I can’t get the recordings that fast, but it’s good “review”) It also burns time and helps you get to the end the period 🙂
It’s an excuse to get more input really. I just told the kids it’s important they hear different accents in Spanish and they buy it!
I’m hoping to develop a library of these stories and recordings that I can use in the future.
This idea is not written up anywhere to my knowledge. A good share. Thanks.
