I have a question about beginning track vs intermediate track at the seminars. I have only had a 3day training but everyday I am on the blog as well as moretprs. In my free time I am studying videos and reading blogs to become more adept at this. I struggle with using the tenses from early on but find I really need help with 2nd and 3rd year classes. Which track should I choose?
Is there still room in the war rooms?
Go to the intermediate track, Melissa! I think being on this blog, like you are, puts you far ahead of many people.
I agree with Sean. I hadn’t had any training besides Ben’s DVDs, his books, and the PLC and the intermediate track seemed just right last summer at NTPRS.
I registered for iFLT yesterday, including the Wed. morning war room time. I’m looking forward to being there!
I’d like to find a roommate (or two? this hotel has suites sometimes with 2 queens plus a pull-out in another room). I could sign up on the list of iFLT registrees but I thought I’d ask here first — other women going who want a roommate at the Country Inn & Suites? Info on the hotels here: https://tprstorytelling.com/conference/travel-lodging/
Are you still looking for a roommate, Diane? If so, want to email me? LLePage@sacoschools.org.
FYI to the group – did so!
Yay, Diane! Carla, Susi and I will be there from Winnetka! We are presenting about elementary FVR.
That’s great, Alisa. I will be presenting Listen & Draw (and follow-ups to it). I think on Thursday.
Can we just show up at the night-time War Room? What kind of…beverages?
I suggest something real blasda, I mean, nah bi gorach, right guys? (That precludes Corona if Jason Bond is teaching…Are you Jason? fingers crossed… I saw that you’re presenting at NTPRS… so I’m guessing you’re not heading this far inland too, but…)
Hahah, Jim I almost wrote that word for word myself! We’ll need something blasda (“tasty” in Scottish Gaelic) indeed! I’m humbled that you remember my rants against Corona.
I’ll be at both NTPRS and iFLT this time around. Anyone need a roommate?
How could I forget it? Those words/moments are stuck in the hard drive now.
So great to hear you’ll be joining us in St. Paul!!
The night time war rooms are not under the purvey of Carol, so yes, in past years it just turned into a big room full of people and whoever wanted to would work. Grant and I limited it to 15 last year but it grew to 50 on a few nights. Who cares? It’s kind of like a party where people teach for entertainment.
I’m meeting with my principal next period to see if she can help me fund going to iFLT…
Do you have a PD (professional development) committee?
No, but the superintendent has agreed to pay for the conference and graduate credits as part of our contracted tuition reimbursement, my principal has $100 she can give me towards airfare/hotel, I can “borrow” the $175 I got put in next year’s budget for TCI Maine in October and my parents are giving me $150 towards it for my bday. 😉
My superintendent will also pay for the registration and tuition for the express fluency teacher training in Vermont at the end of June. I really really want to do both.
Now I just gotta convince the DH that it’s okay for me to spend the time and money out of pocket.
I’ll take any spare positive thoughts and prayers you guys might have to help me on that front!
Leah…..call me tomorrow when You can…. Need to fill You in on what’s been goin on
OK now if you haven’t signed up for iFLT, do so because Scotland is going to be in the house. Yes, you get to learn Gaelic! I remember last year in Chicago Sean, who was timing, would make eye contact with me, who was supposed to stop teachers after ten minutes, and I just couldn’t do it with Jason. So he would go on, once for an hour, as I remember. It’s a cool sounding language, that is certain.
Hi Ben,
Quick question about the War Room sessions during the day – will they overlap with the language labs? I’d love to do both if possible. Cheers!
Jason I will be coaching with Diana Noonan in the afternoon sessions. And you will certainly want to make the rounds of the language lab sessions in the mornings. Here is a link to the tentative schedule:

Insanely jealous! I will be there in spirit. Heading to Costa Rica instead bc I got an opportunity to co-lead a trip. PD for teachers. Long story and it will be very cool. I will get to plant some CI seeds in this delightfully mixed group of teachers of every subject elementary -high school. I see transformation on the horizon for all of us, as we immerse in a rural community for 10 days 🙂
I was TORN bc I have not been to iFLT since 2012. Boooo!!!!! I will absorb anything I can vicariously! Not gonna lie, I find myself wondering if I could catch a flight out there to do the first 2 days and then meet up with my CR group on the 16th. Precarious thinking.
I’m very sad to be missing out. Unfortunately, I am doing coursework for a master’s which I need if I ever want to get paid more and before our salary scale gets blasted into oblivion. Of course it conflicts with iFLT. I’ll be there in spirit.
We’ll miss you Eric. I remember how much positive energy you gave to every single practicing teacher. We’ll miss that.
