Over the years there certainly have been hundreds of posts here on the PLC about how CI interfaces with the reading piece. However, after studying the problem (reading is a problem in the CI community – I won’t go into why here) for years and years, the only reading product out there that I really can recommend is at FLANGOO.com. It is from Teacher’s Discovery’s and they compare it to Netflix but for online readers!

I contacted Flangoo and they added this information for those interested:

Right now they have around 90 leveled readers for Spanish, French, and German. All of the stories have audio by native speaker. They also have these comprehension questions built in which are nice. I prefer to make up my own comprehension questions, but these work great as a template or a starting point. Or if you’re crunched for time, you can just grab them and go.

I’m really hoping they add Russian someday. Maybe if I keep bugging them…

If you know me, you know I’m not the most tech-savvy person in the world, but I was able to log in from my laptop and from my cell phone, and I love how easy it is to use. And Chuck at Teacher’s Discovery has all these video tutorials, and he will make time to sit with you and show you how it works so you’re comfortable using it and sharing stories with your students. It’s a real joy to be able to see so many stories available, like a digital library of readers and all your students have their own library cards. It’s worth a look.

Oooh, Ben, would that I were Teaching French. Latin is always the orphaned stepchild when it comes to comprehensible materials by these companies.
