So, having tried to stress the importance of teaching verbs, verbs and verbs in our CI classes, let’s get started with our suggested sequence, our train tracks, for getting through our first class with our students in a safe and happy and pleasant and engaging way, by focusing only on two verbs: “looks for” and “finds”.
If we do this right we won’t even get to “finds”, because we will want to end our first class with at least one CWB card, and some self/class reflection as well. Hopefully it takes us the entire class period to get through one sentence! Only then will we have gotten enough reps on it!
Maybe this will be the year our students understand us more clearly, because we will be masters of SLOW and repetitions of verbs. We can try!
