I teach 10th & 11th grade Spanish on Long Island, NY.
This year is my third year teaching. After getting my “feet wet” my first year I started doing activities in my classes my second year to promote speaking because I felt that was the ultimate goal. Although they were fairly successful I felt the activities were too contrived and my students were not producing enough authentic speech. I really want my students to acquire the language, not just learn about it. A colleague of mine, who is also on your site, told me about your website and TPRS. I bought TPRS in a Year! and PQA in a Wink! and your CDs. I also did a bunch of research over the summer about TPRS – what exactly it is, how to do it, etc. So this year has been my first year using the method and I cannot see myself going back. While I still have a lot to learn, my students are speaking and using the language better this year than my first two.
