“But if you want the alchemy, let the kids into the classroom and let go a bit. Listen to their cute answers, and then use what they say. You will see magic.”
That sentence is my mantra.
I just started doing “afraid of the package” with my Fr1 students this early in the morning but I couldn’t really tell what time or day it was b/c I had so much fun and we only did the first location. They left the room talking about the names of people in the second location we’ll do on Friday.
So the boy is named Ki and he is afraid of a package sent by an owl named Who and goes to his mother named Mee to ask her to open it.
For the french teachers/speakers out there you can imagine the kinds of tangled questions coming out of that triangle (paradoxically they were more confusing for me than for them and the kids kept their facts straight and me on my toes)
Examples of questions I asked were:
Ki a peur de qui?
Ki a peur de who?
Ki reçoit un paquet de qui?
Qui reçoit un petit paquet, Ki ou Whoo?
Qui s’approche de Me, Qui ou Whoo?
Qui est Ki?
Où est Who?
And the list goes on and on
Wow, let the magic unfold, let the kids be the creators as ONLY THEY can create this kind of magic!
I can tell it’s going to be another fun filled day!
Wishing you all the same…..
Sabrina, I’m on the first scene of the same story with my French 1 class. Quelle coincidence! The bell just rang, so here they come back from lunch to get started on scene 2.
Haha Greg! On est toujours sur la même longueur d’onde !
Did you get my email?
What a great day, first hearing that Joseph works right there with Brigitte and then hearing about one more home run from my single favorite script of all time, Afraid of the Package. We have lots to be thankful for right now, looking back on the year. Those names rock the house, Sabrina! I want to do that story now!
Greg,
Never mind my previous answer, I just read your answer to my email.
Hugh is on first base. Who’s on first base? Hugh’s on first base. I asked you first!!! Abbot and Costello for those of you who don’t go back that far.
