Here is the simple story – targeted for level 1 kids early in the year – that I mentioned in the last blog post:

Johnny lives in Thorndike. His girlfriend Chelsea lives in Germany. Johnny asks his dad, May I have the submarine? His dad says, yes, you may. Johnny drives the submarine and trashes it.
He goes home and says Dad, the submarine is trashed. May I have the tractor? Dad says yes, you may. Johnny drives the tractor and trashes it.
He goes home and says, Dad, the tractor is trashed. May I have the taxi? Dad says, yes you may. Johnny drives the taxi to Germany.
(The rest is up to the kids. In one class it went like this:
Chelsea says “Where were you?” Johnny says “Thorndike to Germany is eine lange Fahrt!” Chelsea says, “It’s over. I have a new boyfriend.”)
This one is visually a lot of fun. You have the girl way over on one side of the room in Germany, sitting there, waiting for her guy to show up, but he keeps trashing vehicles. You have Dad on the other side of the room, placidly agreeing to each new request, seemingly unaffected by all of the accidents.
