FYI Ben, the introduction that you printed here goes with Cheap Jewelry, not with this story.
Thanks for pointing that out. I’ll fix it. I have decided to go with the story above for this observation. Like you said, there is just too much new vocabulary in Cheap Jewelry for a first year class. Does the story above have a name?
Please give a hug from me to Skip and Therese and Annemarie at Susie’s workshop today. Drink some chai.
You use the story, then name it. I can’t pay attention right now. High on chai.
and high on Susie I bet. :o)
WE MISS YOU BEN! (mainers:)
(and the vermonters)
Ben and I fantasized about a TPRS retreat for teachers….still think it would be a great idea….
Come to Colorade next summer. Diana and I have been discussing that. We have all these kick ass young teachers in town and in the mountains like Leslie Davison and them all. And we wanted to have it so that there were like zero expenses except for travel, with people staying in DPS people’s homes and food being provided by families and all like that. Putting your name on the marquee sure wouldn’t hurt this very fledgling idea!
Sorry Elissa – I certainly considered you part of the “mainers” group – no slight intended…. I REALLY appreciate the New England (and beyond – NY folks too) of the group. mea culpa!
Laurie – can you expand on that idea…. ???? (teachers retreat)
Oh yeah, please elaborate! I already love it…summer + mountains + kick ass TPRS-ers!
I talked to Diana about it last night. She and Bryce and Leslie Davidson and Bryce are forming a steering committe. Jason and Krashen will probably be there. The problem is that we need a non-profit to run it through and we don’t think we can get it set up by next summer. This is just in the very early planning stages and is really just us knocking around some ideas. It may not happen next summer, it may take two summers, we don’t know. We’re just dreaming, which is something we do a lot here in Colorado, maybe because we’re so close to the sky, to the big sky out here.
