Ben Slavic's "TPRS Inner Circle" Membership
If you would like to receive coaching from TPRS expert Ben Slavic to improve
your TPRS teaching skills, and if you would like to be a part of a private,
active, and supportive community of other "like minded" TPRS teachers that care
about one another and help each other to be successful, then Ben's "TPRS Inner
Circle" Membership is for you!
The TPRS Inner Circle Membership was created due to threatened
legal action I received about the content on my blog. With a
private membership format, I am free to say what I want. I can
conduct coaching and share information on TPRS without risk.
The private membership format allows us to have a community that can
thrive and work together without worrying about people trying to
attack us. Back when I had my public blog and I shut it down,
many people wrote to tell me how important the blog had been to them
over the years, and requested it's speedy return. That also
encouraged me to launch this new membership.
The TPRS Inner Circle is only $7.95/month. The price is low
so it's affordable for everyone. You get unlimited access to
the membership site each month. Keep in mind that this is much
cheaper than the costs to travel and attend a conference. For
the cost of a fast food meal you get access to the only TPRS private
coaching membership and community in the world.
Benefits of membership include:
- Access to all of Ben's current articles and comments. New articles
are added each week!
- Access to all of Ben's past articles and comments back to 2007. There
is a wealth of information and training here.
- Access to periodic, chapter by chapter updates of Ben’s methods books on comprehensible input - TPRS in a Year! and PQA in a Wink! Changes have occurred over the four years since their initial publication, and, as each chapter of each book is updated with those changes, it will be posted here. Hard copies of the books will still be available for purchase on this site, but blog site members will have instant access to the updated chapters at no charge, as they become available.
- Access to a planned video blog. Ben will address questions emailed in periodically by blog members. In addition, Ben will invite guests like Susan Gross, Diana Noonan, Bryce Hedstrom and other Colorado comprehensible input teachers to comment, perhaps in a panel discussion format.
- Access to videotape of Ben’s classes (not available for sale in DVD form) which offer suggestions about PQA, suggestions about how to move from PQA into a story, how to ask stories, how to teach reading classes, how to best plan the academic week, how to park, and suggestions on how to personalize classes at the beginning of the year with activities like Circling with Balls, One Word Images, and the Word Chunk Team Competition.
- TPRS Inner Circle members are invited to send in videotape of their classes. This aspect of the blog site will offer a form of peer coaching to those members of the community willing to take the risk. None of the videotapes - those Ben posts or those sent in by members - will be cinematographic marvels or examples of perfect CI instruction, which are very hard to achieve or there would be abundant examples of good CI instruction all over the internet. Rather, they will be for discussion and learning, as if we were visiting each other’s classrooms in person. Those willing to take the risk will benefit - we are all in this together and we must learn from each other. The entire concept of this site is teachers helping teachers. There is no better way to learn how to get better at comprehensible input - aside from conferences - than by coaching each other via videotape. Teachers will of course have the option of private feedback from Ben on footage sent in.
As an Inner Circle member, of course, you will also be able to contribute your written ideas and experiences, adding to the thousands of great comments that have been posted on this site since it began in 2007. It's like getting together with me and other teachers every time you log on. (Bring your own coffee!)
Again, I priced the TPRS Inner Circle Membership at $7.95 so that learning about comprehension based methods is affordable and can be accessed any time of the week year round with little effort on your part. Most of us are too familiar with the costs of attending a national conference - travel, hotel, conference fees, food, etc. - and those costs only cover a week of training. My attempt is to make quality training
available on a regular basis to teachers interested in comprehension based language instruction. I think you'll enjoy this format!
