Robert’s email discussing Scope and Sequence with his district World Languages representative continues with a response. The man is wrong on his point. It is such a weak response to all that Robert wrote to him about so many things up to this point in the exchange. Is this the response of a leader?
Hi Robert and thanks.
I generally agree with your viewpoint. While there is definitely a silent period, I suggest that this period needs to be relatively short for a 14 year old. I know they can begin responding fairly quickly to formulaic, practiced language. I also think sentence frames can be successively introduced into WL instruction prior to stage three.
Your thoughts are excellent with the exception (?) of my personal opinion (above). Thanks. Keep those thoughts coming. I believe our new director, has also had some experience in language acquisition. It will be interesting to get to know his viewpoint.
Have a great end of the year!
