Why I like my S & S:
-measurable performances or behaviors that can show if kids attune or respond appropriately
-performances are easy to turn into conversational instructional practices (storytelling) and rubrics that align
-it’s detailed enough that admin can see that there’s a lot going on behind the eyes for level 1s. They may look like they’re just sitting there, but this proves there’s more going on.
This isn’t ties to FRENCH I, FRENCH II. There is literally no timeline, so we aren’t tied down, but if a timetable absolutely HAS to be developed, that’s an option.
*[ed. note: this topic of culture needs our attention. In the past, as with the need to teach writing, teachers have embraced culture as social studies in L1 to avoid the real L2 work. That gig is officially up, along with its big sister teaching “grammar”, and good riddance as this document by Claire changes so much and which, it is no accident, so resembles our own five year old child jGR/ISR, but we can talk about culture later for those who want that, after this document has gotten the attention it deserves and don’t try to micromanage it because it is the spirit of this document that I embrace as far superior to any curriculum invented by the ignorant profiteers of Realidades and so I will continue to feature it as those few of us here on the blog want to sink our teeth deeper into it as have we not been building up to this document for years so if you have problems with it or want to get picky about it just please leave this community and go find one online where they like to talk about fine intellectualized points and leave us to the continuing work of looking here for a way into children’s hearts, since so many kids’ belief in themselves as language learners has died a moment of silence please in the Forest of the Mind and Data and Labeling and Branding and Discouragement that we have ignorantly but with no less damage because of it offered them for so many decades as we gather energy now to bust free from one of the biggest difficulties in the history of foreign language instruction – the cold and deadly vice grip of how we grade our children as we move now slowly in the direction of authentic assessment to do that and yes in fact I am a first classrun-on sentence specialist and thank you very much for noticing.]
