The video retell gives you a chance to review the entirety of the story without interruption. The actors re-create the action on camera while you simply narrate the story from off-camera. You can add in props, other actors, sound effects (students provide them), perhaps adding in a bit more dialogue, whatever strikes you in the moment.
These video retells, if you upload them (as “private” videos, unless you have parent permission) to YouTube or Google Classroom or a similar site, can be for review and additional input. They are particularly well-suited to filling out sub plans. You can simply have your students watch videos of previous stories and summarize in English to demonstrate their understanding.
